“Where the divine feminine energy blesses the city with wealth, wisdom, and strength.”
Situated on Bhulabhai Desai Road in the South Mumbai area of Mahalaxmi, the temple is strategically located as it is easily accessible by road from the Mahalaxmi railway station. Additionally, it is about 18 kilometres from the famous Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, making it easily accessible for travelers from all over the world.
Historical Significance:
Built in 1831 by Hindu merchant Dhakji Dadaji, this temple was established to worship Goddess Mahalaxmi. According to legend, when the Hornby Wellard project was being built, the project's chief engineer, Ramji Shivji Prabhu, received a divine vision from God in which he was asked to find the idols of Mahalaxmi, Mahakali and Mahasaraswati that were underwater and bring them to the surface. And then the project went smoothly and hence the temple was established on the hill.
