Lake Pichola is a unique and magnificent lake in Udaipur that attracts tourists from all over the world. History:

Lake Pichola was built in 1362 by a local besi of the village of Pichholi. When Maharana Uday Singh founded the city of Udaipur, this lake was expanded and strengthened. Over time, this lake became a symbol of the glory and valor of the Rajput rulers. Various royal buildings and ghats were built in the areas around the lake, which still fascinate tourists today.

Geographical Structure:

Lake Pichola is about 4 kilometers long and 3 kilometers wide. Its average depth is 8 to 10 meters. The lake has two main islands named Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir. The main source of water in the lake is the Renunka River, as well as the surrounding drains and seasonal rains that also add water to the lake.

Jag Niwas is a magnificent palace located on an island in the middle of the lake. Nowadays, it is known as the Taj Lake Palace Hotel. Jag Mandir:

Jag Mandir is located on the second island of Lake Pichola. Started by Maharana Karan Singh and completed by Sanghram Singh, this palace is also of historical importance. It has a domed pavilion, stone elephant statues and beautiful gardens. Once, Mughal Shahzada Khurram (Shah Jahan) found refuge here.

City Palace:

City Palace is a huge royal complex located on the banks of Lake Pichola. The views of the lake from here are stunning. Enjoying the peace and beauty of Lake Pichola from the balcony of the palace is a unique experience.

Gangaur Ghat:

Udaipur Airport is 22 km away from Lake Pichola. Udaipur City Junction is nearby by rail. There is also good connectivity to various cities by road.
