“Where faith meets heritage, and every offering carries a taste of tradition.”
Historical Significance
Established in 1735 by the great Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, a descendant of the famous Holkar dynasty, the Khajrana Ganesh Temple has stood for centuries as a poignant expression of unwavering faith and determination. At the centre of this devout temple is the idol of Lord Ganesha, which is of immense importance and is the main reason and focal point of worship of the temple. This highly revered idol was discovered from the depths of a well, where it was deliberately buried in an attempt to save it from the idolatrous fury unleashed by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. This courageous act not only saved the deity from desecration but also went a long way in consolidating and celebrating the cultural heritage of the entire region.
Distinguishing Architectural Elements
