• The museum was founded by Pranlal Bhogilal, an Indian industrialist and the first person in India to have a private collection of over 150 vintage cars.
• His passion for preserving historic automobiles led to the creation of this museum, which showcases vehicles used by Maharajas, British officers, and noble families.
• Many of these cars were imported to India during the British era and customized for the Indian royal family.
• The Dastan Estate, where the museum is located, was once a grand mansion and has been converted into a display space for these magnificent vehicles.
• He was an avid car collector, and the museum houses a significant collection of vintage and classic cars, motorcycles, buggies and utility vehicles. The collection spans a range of eras, including the British, American and European automobile industries.
• Pranlal Bhogilal started the Auto World Museum in his private estate of 2200 acres, Dastan, in 1927, and earned the Guinness Book of World Record listing in 1987 as the owner of the world's largest private garage.
• An enthusiast for many years, Bhogilal collected over 204 cars of which 105 are in Ahmedabad. He ensured that all cars were in running condition.
